5.0 out of 5 stars "Does what it says on the box"
On the face of it this is an absolutely basic, bog-standard vacuum cleaner without any bells or whistles. But if you think about it, what else do you want from a hoover anyway? Those that claim to make coffee, light up the room and filter the air down to operating room standards are not my sort of thing as they just have more ways in which they go wrong.
And this little baby never goes wrong. Ever. Lets start at the beginning. Its very light and easy to carry. So I bring it down from the upstairs airing cupboard without any difficulty. Then the cord is splendidly easy to pull out. No fancy mechanisms, just a nice n' easy internal wind system. Plug it in, of course. The On/Off button is huge and super easy to operate. Then the suction is, of course, excellent. Because its so light ad round, it pulls around the room easily. At the same time, because the cord is long and so easy to pull out, I withdraw as much as I am going to need, to do the two downstairs rooms, and never have to unplug and re-plug. After a thoroughly decent job of hoovering, I turn off with the big easy button, uplug and wind up the super-easy and fail safe cord store system and carry my light little Henry back up stairs.
When the bag needs changing that's easy too. And they're easy to get hold of as this is a very popular cleaner and used by most professional cleaning companies.
So that's it. No bells. No whistles. No hot-steam-cold-wash-teasmade-alarm-clock-surgical-air-filtration promises. But it does hoover really well and it does so with superb ease.
And it will go on doing so for years and years and years to come. If you want fancy go elsewhere. If you want an efficient, strong, easy, reliable vacuum cleaner, buy this one.
Does exactly what it says on the box!
5.0 out of 5 stars I've found my perfect man!
Oh Henry! How you have exceeded my expectations!
I got this vacuum cleaner because my daughter is petrified of vacuums, and therefore I cannot vacuum when she is awake, because she screams the house down, and I cannot vacuum when she is asleep, because she wakes up, so for the past two years I have had problems!
The cleaner I had was rubbish and finally kicked the bucket, so I decided I wanted to push the boat out and go Dyson.
I surveyed comparison charts and found Dyson was rated 9 or 10 in the list of top cleaners, with this immensely cheaper one at number two.
After much deliberation I decided to go with Henry-he was £170 cheaper, seemed to have everything the Dyson did except the HEPA filtration, but neither of us have allergies so we don't need it, and if ever we do get them you can 'upgrade' Henry with an allergy filter for £20-you just pop it in where the normal filter goes-under his hat.
So yes, I thought I was getting a cleaner that meant I could clean my house without scaring my daughter witless, and thought it would be nowhere near as good as a Dyson, but at least my carpets would be better than they were yesterday! I thought that the reason he got such good reviews was his face, and only people that were into 'cute' things bothered reviewing him.
How wrong I was-this machine is phenomenal! My carpets have actually changed colour-they are cream again. Hannah adores him-she insisted on him sitting under the dinner table so that she could feed him, and I can get into places I could never even attempt with an upright.
I did have a slight concern as one review said that it doesn't glide properly when you pull it back, but I find that only happened if I tried to do it one-handed, otherwise it is as smooth as anything.
Henry, you are fabulous!
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality doesn't mean spending a fortune
I have had many different types of vacuum cleaner in my time from Dyson to Hoover, bagged to bagless and I have to say that I have had my Henry for two weeks and it is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever had. The suction on it is unbelievable, my floors have never been so clean. I have got real wood floorboards and it gets right into the crevices. Another reviewer said there was a problem with it on carpet but I have found no problem whatsoever.
Admittedly it is a fairly flat carpet but it cleans it up lovely. The only drawback to it is that it doesn't have anywhere to store your tools on the machine so you do have to carry them with you wherever you go. The cord length on it is brilliant, I can do my whole downstairs without having to unplug it once. I would really recommend these cleaners to anyone who has had enough of all the new fangled machines they keep bringing out and just wants to go back to basics and get a really good cleaner in the process. Brilliant.
5.0 out of 5 stars Hello Henry - Die Dyson!
In all the offices I've worked in I noticed the cleaners always used Henry, now I know why. I cannot believe the difference in suction power between my new Henry and my old Dyson. Henry comes with two power settings: the low setting is great for getting crumbs off the tablecloth (without sucking-up the tablecloth) and dusting the shelves etc (with the brush head); the high setting is so powerful I nearly have to get my fitted carpet refitted, but it cleans superbly. With my Dyson I had to remove the head and just use the hose to try pick-up the pesky pieces from the carpet (not always successfully). It is easy to assemble, has a long flex, good attachments and is easy to move around. If you are thinking of making a new purchase think of Henry!
4.0 out of 5 stars A quality, but basic, vacuum cleaner
This hoover has an excellent suction and it takes a while to fill up one bag. My previous hoover was an Electrolux Cyclone 1200W [...] and it was easily clogged up with hairs and dust. This Henry hoover gives none of those problems and just works well. It is a little basic on features though - the tube height is not extendable for example. But if, at the end of the day, you just want a hoover that will clean your house and won't require cleaning/de-clogging itself everytime you do that, then Henry comes highly recommended.
